The iconic 18th hole at Sea Pines Harbour Town Golf Links is the quintessential picture of Hilton Head, marking Sea Pines as the home of golf on the Island. There are three golf courses within the Plantation:
Harbour Town Golf Links
Home to the Verizon Heritage tournament each year where some of the biggest names in golf play Harbour Town Golf Links for the honor of wearing the tartan jacket. Consistantly named the top course in South Carolina by Golf Magazine, Harbour Town is the most well known and respected golf course in the Hilton Head Island area.
Designed to reflect a traditional Scottish course, Harbour Town Golf Links was created by Pete Dye working with Jack Nicklaus. A par-71, 6,973 yard couse with a slope of 146, the course rewards accuracy rather than long hitting. Particularly on the famous 18th hole, playing towards the Harbour Town lighthouse.
Ocean Course
The Ocean Course was the first golf course to be built in Hilton Head, and is a real classic. Rebuilt by Mark McCumber in the mid-1990s, the course has spectacular ocean views, with the signature 15th offering panoramic views unlike anywhere else. The Ocean Course is a Certified Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary course, one of two at The Sea Pines Resort.
Sea Marsh Course
Sea Marsh has been temporarily closed for a multi-million dollar reconstruction. Legendary course architect Pete Dye is leading the project to make this historic course a modern masterpiece. Along with reshaping the entire course, the renovations will add new tee boxes, greens, bunkers and ponds and update the drainage and irrigation system. The new course is scheduled to open in September, 2007.
